Students selected as GIMS Research Fellows engage in a structured research cycle that includes:
an application and assessment process
assignment of an appropriate mentor by the Institute
regular research milestones and feedback
a final research deliverable (paper, poster, presentation, or competition submission)
GIMS fellows gain experience in independent research, project design, and scholarly communication — key skills for success in higher education and future scientific careers.
Immerse yourself in a research project that will last August-June, involve fortnightly online meetings with your mentor and close supervision. This provides a good basis for applying to research competitions such as:
The Yau high school science awards
Regeneron Science Talent Search
Davidson Fellows Scholarship
